Wednesday

The wackiness continues in our house. The girls are going to be making cinnamon bread this weekend. We are also going to make some cookies. We are going to roll pretzel rods in chocolate and then sprinkles. These things are designed to keep them busy for a time. We are supposed to get snow so I need something.  I also have some flannel I think I will work with. I am going to see if they want to make some jammy pants. We could work on making some more hats and scarves too. We have made 2 hats so far and one scarf.

I have the stuff to make some chocolate chip macadamia nut cookies, sugar cookies, gingerbread cookies, and some others.

My grandmother used to make some cookies that were little balls rolled in powdered sugar. I wish I knew what they were. I have searched all over but never can find that recipe.  It makes me sad. I have a binder full off any recipe I make that the kids like. That way anytime someone wants one they know what I have.

These are similar to Mexican Wedding Cookies. I grew up making these and they are a family favorite at Christmas time.

      Cream together:
      1 cup butter
      ½ cup powdered sugar
      1 tsp. vanilla

      Sift in:
      2 ¼ cups flour

      ¼ tsp. salt

Mix until blended and add in ¾ cup finely chopped walnuts. Form into 1 inch balls. Bake at 400° for 10-12 minutes. Roll in powdered sugar while warm, let cool and roll in powdered sugar once more.
