Salt Lake City
We spent today in Salt Lake City. It was really interesting! We toured the church grounds. I am a bit (ok a lot) disappointed in the commercialism of them Nauvoo was so enjoyable I would of spent days there. This was more or less seen it been there done it lets go. We toured Brigham Young's house but its so rushed. I would of liked to spend a ton of more time in there looking around. We saw the tabernacle and it was incredible. The lady stood in the front and tore a piece of newspaper and you could hear it in the back. It was way neat to see. We went into the museum and that was ok. I was hoping they had more then they did. The building is huge but there is not as much in it as I expected. It was still wonderful to see but not what I expected. We went into the family history library and found out some interesting stuff. We did some research on my mom and found out she was German Irish!! No one knew this! We now have her dad's dad and his brothers names. They showed us how to find census records and such. We will need to go to our local one and do more looking and have someone help us to trace back farther.
We went to Spaghetti Factory for dinner. Dave wants pizza but I am not a fan of it so I am hoping we can avoid that. The girls enjoyed their dinner. It was not as good as I remember it being. We used to eat there once a week or so in Hawaii but there is not one by our house so we don't anymore.
The girls are swimming again. Have to keep the occupied somehow. When we got back to the hotel tonight some guy was sitting on the front of the car. I asked him nicely to move. Also we had a non smoking room reserved and the idiots next to us sat in front of the door smoking. It defeats the whole purpose!!! They sat there smoking for hours. We thought they would of ran out of smokes at one point. There was a huge pile of butts just tossed in the walkway. We needless to say did not like this hotel. So the Econolodge in Salt Lake is an avoid at all cost place. It is also and old not well kept place. There is a much nicer one 25 miles south of here in the chain ( comfort inn) that is much better.
