Colorado

We got the heck out of dodge at around 10 am. We made a ton of jokes about that. We meandered over to the Santa Fe trail museum off the highway and thoroughly enjoyed that. I was shocked though to see several mid 1800 clothing items not under glass but hanging on WIRE!! hangers for everyone with grubby hands to touch!!! Of course that brings out the fabric Nazi in me and I did touch and feel and look at some incredible hand made lace today!!!

We then drove and drove and drove. We found the flat plains of Kansas and finally found our way out and into Colorado. We kept going trying to cover as many miles as possible as we could. We stopped in Denver for dinner at Chili's and I was impressed that they offer an incredible military discount. We had appetizer, 4 dinners, and desert for $16!!!! I am shocked at how cheap it was!!!! On we went. We got slammed by a dust storm right outside Denver. We came to a complete stop on the freeway. It was kind of cool but ubber scary as I was afraid we would get hit by someone. It lasted maybe a minute and we proceeded on. It was awesome to see Stephie's face the first time she saw the Rockies. She had the biggest grin on and her whole face light up seeing the mountains. They are incredible! Especially at sunset. Just wonderful to see. We drove through Vail and realized our mistake in not stopping in Denver as hotels got real pricey up there because of a Rodeo and something about oil wells.

We did find a room and are crashing for the night. We are in Eagle Colorado for the night in a Comfort inn. The motel is really nice. It has a jetted tub in the room and its HUGE!!! We have a king size bed too!! I can stretch out hopefully.
